Aaron Copland

1900-1990

When our three children were young, we decided to take them camping out West. With our pop-up camper in tow, the Golden Retriever between the children in the backseat and a box of our favorite music on cassettes, we headed to Wyoming.

High on a back road overlooking the Grand Teton Mountain Range we listened to Rodeo and Billy the Kid. Copeland’s music painted the vastness of the scene before us with clarity and directness and with his uniquely “American Sound.” We treasure this family memory.
